Charges After Clifford Standoff

Wellington OPP have charged a Clifford man after responding to call about a man barricaded in an apartment.

Wellington OPP officers, along with the local OPP Crime Unit, and the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team responded to an apartment on Allan Street East in Clifford about 3:30 Friday afternoon.

A man had made threats to cause harm to police officers and he was also on a Probation Order.

32-year-old Cory McCarthy of Clifford has been charged with Utter Threats and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 30, 2016.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
