Man Arrested After Nine-Hour Standoff With Police In Fullarton

A West Perth man is facing charges following a standoff with police in Fullarton that lasted around nine hours.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Friday around 1pm, officers were called to a home on Perth Rd. 163 where a man ultimately barricaded himself inside.

Police say officers set up a containment area around the home, with OPP crisis negotiators, the Tactics and Rescue Unit and Emergency Response Team responding to the scene.

The incident wrapped up shortly before 10pm when 40-year-old Jesse Lord of West Perth was arrested.

Police say there was no risk to public safety during the standoff.

Lord has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance and unlawfully being in a dwelling. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

All roads in the area have since been reopened.
