Arson Suspected In One Of Three Fires On Clinton's Main Street

Central Huron's fire chief says the fire in vacant apartments above some vacant stores on the main street of Clinton at the end of August were actually three fires.

Chief Dave Renner says he's been advised by the Fire Marshall's Office that the cause of the first two fires has been classified as undetermined and the third fire is classified as arson.

Renner says damage from the first fire was limited. Much of the damage from the second fire was largely the result of the fire fighters having to tear parts of the ceiling out to make sure the fire was out. However, there was extensive damage to the roof from the third fire.

Renner adds a structural engineer has been called in to establish the extent of damage to the structure of the building and they're still waiting for that report.
