A good Start For The New Listowel School

The new Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 school in Listowel opened on schedule at the beginning of the school year.

Superintendent of Corporate Services, Janet Baird-Jackson told trustees at the Avon Maitland District School Board meeting last night the official opening is still in the planning stages but the North Perth Westfield School was open on time and has already hosted an open house.

Baird-Jackson says the school opened ahead of the opening day of school for an open house for students and parents as well as members of the community and more than 3,500 people got a look at the new school and were suitably impressed.

Baird-Jackson explains they're trying to arrange an official opening that would allow the minister to attend and she says that will happen as soon as possible.

Baird-Jackson says one of the sub-trade people who attended the open house complimented them for creating engaging places for their students and staff. Baird-Jackson says coming from someone who had been involved in building other schools she felt that was high praise.
