Meaford Getting In-Town Bus Service

Meaford will be getting in-town transit service, starting on Monday.

The Handi Van will start out from Nelson Square and make seven stops, including the Valu-Mart Plaza in the east end and the medical clinic in the west end.

The bus will also make stops at the Meaford Nursing Home, Meaford Hospital, and Meaford-St. Vincent Community Centre.

Rides will be free for the first two weeks. After October 2, fares will be $4 each. Children two years and younger ride free with a parent or guardian.

The in-town transit service is a one-year pilot project, and the cost will be partially offset by money from a provincial gas tax rebate.
