Prophet Fred King Heads To Jail

A man known as the "Prophet" at the Church of Jesus Christ Restored in Chatsworth has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for nine counts of assault.

Fred King, 56, will also face years years probation.

King was sentenced in court in Owen Sound on Wednesday.

Another 16 charges against King were withdrawn by the Crown.

A former church member who lives in Owen Sound wrote a book about being a wife of the “Prophet,” and about her escape from the church.

King was arrested in Hamilton on April 11, 2012, and charged in 2014 after a 16 month investigation.

The case dates back to between 1978 and 2008.

King’s brother, Judson, will also stand trial. He is scheduled to be in court November 7 to face various assault charges.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
