Windsor Man Charged In Fatal Meaford Crash

Police have now charged a Windsor man in connection with a crash that killed a 55-year-old Meaford motorcyclist.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on September 2 around 8:41pm, a 2012 Dodge Charger was traveling west on Hwy. 26 in Meaford when it struck an eastbound motorcycle that was attempting to make a left turn onto 7th Line.

The motorcyclist, 55-year-old Allan Bradley Doherty, was rushed to hospital with serious, life threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital.

The driver of the Dodge, 57-year-old Robert Girard of Windsor , was not hurt in the crash.

On Thursday, police charged Girard with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and exceeding 80 mg blood alcohol content while operating a motor vehicle causing death. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on October 20.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
