Huron East Teen In Critical Condition After Crash

A 16-year-old Huron East male remains in critical condition following a vehicle rollover collision.

The crash occurred on Saturday just after 2am, on Staffa Rd. between Airport Line and Gulley Line northwest of Kippen. The driver of a four-door sedan was travelling west on Staffa Rd. when he lost control of the vehicle, and rolled it into the south side ditch and into a field.

The lone passenger, a 16-year-old from Huron East, was ejected from the vehicle and remains in critical condition.

The driver, a 17-year-old male from Clinton, sustained minor injuries and has been released from hospital.

The Clinton teen has since been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, impaired driving causing bodily harm and having a blood alcohol content over zero as a young driver. He is scheduled to appear in Youth Justice Court on October 13 in Goderich.

Staffa Rd. between Airport Line and Gulley Line has since been reopened.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
