Man Dies In ATV Crash In Southgate

A Kitchener man is dead following an ATV crash in the Township of Southgate.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Saturday just before 1am, the Arctic Cat 500cc ATV was headed north on Southgate Sideroad 47 when it left the road near Southgate Rd. 10. The ATV entered a ditch before crashing into a tree.

The driver of the ATV, 33-year old Thomas Hughes of Kitchener, was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
