Charge Laid In Machete Attack Near Wiarton

A Grey County man has been charged after an incident involving a machete.

Police responded to a residence on Grey Rd. 1 east of Wiarton, Wednesday afternoon after an employee of the Township of Georgian Bluffs reported being injured.

The victim had been at the property to speak to the owner about a bylaw issue. The resident became verbally aggressive and demanded the victim leave the property.  The man was walking away when he was assaulted from behind by a machete.

He fled to a neighbouring property where he was able to get help.  He suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault.

A suspected was arrested outside his residence. He was treated in hospital for minor injuries from an earlier encounter with the victim.

Ulrich Frich Tempelmann, 62, of Georgian Bluffs is charged with assault with a weapon. The investigation is ongoing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
