5-Year-Old Chatsworth Boy Killed In Farm Accident

An accident on a farm in the Township of Chatsworth has claimed the life of a 5-year-old boy.

Grey County OPP officers were called to the farm on East Back Line Thursday evening around 7:40pm. They discovered the victim was one of several siblings riding in the bucket of a tractor pulling a "packer" implement. The tractor was driven by a 13-year-old.

Police say the little boy fell out of the bucket and was hit by the equipment. Attempts were made to resuscitate the boy but he was later pronounced dead in hospital.

He has been identified as 5-year-old Marcus Dekker of the Township of Chatsworth.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
