Bruce County Has Big Plans For 150th Anniversary

A series of events are planned throughout 2017 to mark Bruce County's 150th Anniversary - "Explorers of Bruce."

Activities include a New Year's Eve Party, Curling Funspiels, a Halloween event, Culture Days and a Military Reunion Dinner.

An interactive outreach exhibit will showcase the county's history at local events throughout the county all year long.

A project to collect stories from past and present residents of Bruce County is also being launched, and will be shared on a website created for the 150th Celebrations.

The county also plans to plant 150 trees of substance, and create a time capsule.

Warden Mitch Twolan stated: ”On behalf of County Council, I want to thank the cross functional team for all of their planning work. The program is exciting and we will have a terrific year celebrating our 150 th Birthday.”

The committee will now proceed to finalize plans and begin seeking community partners to work together to celebrate the County’s 150th!
