Pilot Project Addresses Student Nutrition in Grey and Perth Counties

14 schools in Grey and Perth Counties are taking part in a student Nutrition Pilot project.

The schools will receive weekly deliveries of fruits and vegetables to enhance student nutrition programs.

About 3,200 students will enjoy healthy food five days a week for eight weeks.

The Ontario Student Nutrition Program is getting $40,000. in funding from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

They hope the central procurement model to source and deliver food will alleviate the challenges of sourcing large amounts of healthy food.

The pilot will run into November, using local suppliers and distributors to help research the need for future collaboration.
