Large Syrian Family Moving To Minto

Word has been received that a long-awaited Syrian family of eight will be arriving in Minto October 17, sponsored by the Minto Refugee Settlement Committee.

Committee Member Terry Fisk says the parents are in their 30s and have six children who range in age from 2 to 6 years old.

Fisk said during the first six months the family will work at getting settled and learning English.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
