Meaford Museum To Stay Open

Residents and tourists who enjoy visiting Meaford Museum will be glad to hear council isn’t planning to close it.

Meaford’s committee of the whole has recommended council continue running the museum year-round.

The committee also recommended the municipality carry out periodic reviews of the museum, its services and programming.  This would enable Meaford to keep the museum to operate efficiently and stay up-to-date with patrons needs.

The plan to keep the museum open is one of the four options listed by Parks, Recreation and Culture Director Dan Buttineau in a 14-page service delivery review.

Other options listed in the report were closing the library permanently, hiring another staff member to help expand the museum’s programs, and contract the running of the museum to an independent person, company or organization.
