Man Hospitalized After Horse Drawn Buggy Crash

A Perth East man has been taken to hospital after a horse drawn buggy was struck by a vehicle in the village of Newton.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Thursday around 2:17pm, the horse drawn buggy was travelling west on Perth Line 72 when the driver lost control of his inexperienced horse. The horse moved into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Buick Regal.

The driver of the buggy, a 43-year-old man from Perth East, was ejected onto the road. He has been taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The condition of the horse is unknown at this time.

The road has since been reopened to traffic.
