Walkerton Wins Close Battle Against Mitchell

Walkerton and Mitchell traded shots in a close game as Walkerton won it 4-3.

Reid Simmons was in on every Walkerton goal, scoring the game winner short handed, less than two and a half minutes into the third period and assisting on the rest of the Hawks goals.

Mitchell's Chace Duckworth was the first player on the board with a powerplay goal midway through the opening frame. Walkerton's Chris RolfVonDenBauman answered with just over a minute left in the period.

Greg Hansford put Mitchell up again at 4:35 of the second with another shorthanded goal assisted by Drew Gross. Josh Urbshott answered two minutes later for Walkerton on the powerplay. Two minutes after that Mitchell's Derek Elliot scored. RolfVonDenBauman evened the score again in the final 30 seconds of the second.

Ryan Winter made 32 saves for Walkerton. Graeme Lauersen stopped 21 shots for Mitchell.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
