Port Elgin Harbour Renovations Underway

A major renovation project at the Port Elgin Harbour is underway.

The federal department of Fisheries and Oceans is partnering with Saugeen Shores in the project to stabilize and encapsulate the harbour wall.

The work will start at the southern pier and stretch to the fueling area.

The town will also move the fuel pumps and pump out facilities and add additional docks in the area.

Part of the promenade will be closed during renovations for safety reasons. The project is expected to wrap up at the end of March 2017.

This project is an important step in the life of our harbour,” says Greg Lancaster, facilities manager for the Town of Saugeen Shores. “It will ensure the integrity of the structure, while also providing a safe and reliable harbour for the future of boating in Saugeen Shores.”
