Deadline Thursday To Speak At School Accommodation Review Meeting In Markdale

People who wish to make a presentation at an Accommodation Review meeting at Beavercrest Community School in Markdale must register by the end of the day on Thursday.

The meeting at 7pm on November 3 will look at the future of Beavercrest, Macphail Memorial, Holland -Chatsworth and Spruce Ridge Community Schools.

The initial staff report recommends closing Beavercrest Community School in Markdale as of June 2017.

A new group, called Save Beavercrest, says the schools annual operating deficit is $76,000, which they call a small amount of the board's annual operating budget of $196-million

An accommodation review for a second group of schools will be held November 8 at Chesley District School.

The school board is also recommending the closure of Paisley School.

That review includes Chesley District Community School, Paisley Central School, Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School, Saugeen District Secondary School and Walkerton District Community School.
