UPDATE: North Perth Business Awards Presented

The general manager for the North Perth Chamber of Commerce says Wednesday night's gala awards was an opportunity to celebrate success and diversity.

Sharon D'Arcy says 90 businesses were nominated for the Business Excellence Awards.

"A town will always flourish if we have strong businesses," says D'Arcy. "We had 90 businesses nominated in this entire process and the diversity that was there last night was incredible."

The following awards were handed out:

  • Retail Business of the Year:  Kitchen Cupboard & Icebox
  • Large Business of the Year:  CountyLine
  • Professional Service Business of the Year:  Libro Credit Union
  • Professional Service Business of the Year:  Dynafit Exercise Centre
  • Professional Service Business of the Year:  Listowel Family Dental
  • Hospitality Business of the Year:  Magic Wok
  • Entrepreneur of the Year:  DG’s Pro Tech & Accessories
  • Professional Trade Business of the Year:  Speedy Glass
  • Service Organization of the Year:  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Listowel & District

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
