OPP Hope Text Messages Will Help Solve Hatch Homicide

The OPP will use a new technique in an effort to find witnesses to a homicide investigation in Wellington County.

The body of 65-year-old Frederick John Hatch was found near Erin December 17, 2015.

Police say he was last seen alive December 16 in Nepean.

Police have identified the cell phone numbers in use in Nepean near West Hunt Club Rd. and Merivale Rd. between 12:30pm and 3:30pm in the afternoon of December 16, 2015.

Those customers will receive a text asking them to go to a website and answer some questions in order to help police solve the murder.

A court obtained production order required cell companies to provide the the phone numbers, but police did not receive names or other contact information.
