ABCA To Hold Special Meeting On Shoreline Development Guidelines

The Chair of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has called a special board meeting for Thursday, November 3rd.

The meeting is being held at the South Huron Recreation Centre, and General Manager Brian Horner explains the meeting is being held for the board to consider a notice of motion presented by board member Burkhard Metzger.

Horner explains the motion by Metzger asks that the ABCA Board of Directors declares that it does not intend to implement the ABCA Shoreline Development Guidelines of Section 7.8 in the report in its proposed form, and does not endorse the underlying principle of “managed retreat” and the unilateral prohibition of any shoreline protection works.

Horner goes on to explain section 7.8 of the report outlines what the consultants suggest should not be allowed to happen in Lakeshore Area 1 and Lakeshore Area2.

The meeting on Thursday starts at 11:00 in the morning at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter.
