The push is on to replace the aging CT Scanner at South Bruce Grey Health Service's Walkerton site.
Purchased back in 2005, the current Ct Scanner is aging and now in need of replacement as hospital officials work to keep their hospital current and up to date.
The Walkerton & District Hospital Foundation is gearing up for a two-year fundraising campaign set to begin in spring of next year and the goal, according to Fundraising Committee Chair Paul Sinclair, is between $1.8-million and $2.4-million.
"We will be out looking to the community for further help, we have a small committee together at the present time getting started and we will have a kick-off event in the spring," says Sinclair.
Brockton Council has been asked to chip in towards the fundraising efforts, a sum of $400,000 at the request of the committee, something that Mayor David Inglis says they'll take a serious look at.
"We've helped to fund some major projects over the years, so this is just another good project that we're willing to dig our heels in," says Inglis. "We're doing our budget deliberations in the middle of December (2016) and we'll take a very, very serious look at that."
The Walkerton Hospital was the first rural hospital in Ontario to acquire a CT License.
The CT Scanner Fundraising Campaign is officially set to kick-off on April 1, 2017.
