Organ Donation Registrations Rising

Organ and tissue donor registration rates continue to climb.

According to data from by Trillium Gift of Life Network, Kincardine and Owen Sound are two of several communities that have reached a 50% registration rate as of September 1.

The network began reporting registration rates in 2011 and at that time, no community in Ontario reached that benchmark.

Today there are 14 communities at that level.

Currently 30% of eligible Ontarians are registered organ and tissue donors, which represents 3.7-million individuals.
