Bridge Work In Mount Forest Completed

Work on the Constable Rick Hopkins Bridge in Mount Forest is done.

Improvements to the bridge started in May and included replacing hand-rails, structural members, resurfacing the deck, and installing a new sidewalk and LED street lights.

Even though the Hwy. 6 access to Mount Forest from the south over the bridge re-opened to traffic in late August, further construction continued with sand-blasting and re-painting underneath the bridge.

McLean-Taylor Construction from St Marys completed the work.

In a news release, Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox says it was a project that needed to be done.

"The Township of Wellington North would like to extend a thank you to residents, businesses and visitors for their patience as we underwent this extremely important project," says Lennox. "We appreciate everyone working together to continue to promote our community, while this public infrastructure was revitalized."
