Suspect In Blyth Theft Spree

Police have a suspect in custody after a rash of break and enters and thefts in Blyth Tuesday morning.

The problem started just after 6:40am when the OPP responded to a suspicious person call on Dinsley St. after a homeowner confronted a person in their garage. The startled male took off running from the property.

The suspect was taken into custody a short time later police were notified of a stolen ATV that was left on Mill St.

After the arrest, officers received additional reports of thefts and break and enters that had taken place through earlier in the morning. Several pieces of stolen property were recovered.

Brandon Weitzel, 25, faces seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, three counts of break, enter a dwelling house, and six counts of fail to comply with probation order.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
