UPDATE: 18-Year-Old Killed In Centre Wellington Collision

A young woman from Fergus is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Centre Wellington Township Wednesday night.

Emergency personnel and police responded to the scene just before 9pm on Wellington Rd. 18 at the 4th Line of Centre Wellington.

Police determined that there was a head-on collision involving an eastbound transport truck and a westbound Ford Fusion.

The lone occupant of the Ford, 18-year-old Kristie-Lee Leighton of Fergus, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the transport truck, a 32-year-old man from Chatham, was not injured.

A section of Wellington Rd. 18 between the 4th Line and the 5th Line was closed all night, but re-opened by 8am Thursday morning.

The cause of the collision is being investigated by OPP Technical Collision Investigators.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
