First Responders Busy With Crashes

Emergency responders were busy with a number of crashes Monday morning across the region.

One shut down Perth Line 86 west of Listowel for several hours.

Perth Line 86 was closed between roads 167 and 169 after 7am when a pick-up truck went off the road and hit a hydro pole. It was one of at least six crashes that were called in.

The 17-year-old male driver from Huron East and two passengers were hurt. One of the passengers, a 13-year-old girl, had to be airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries.

The section of Perth Line 86 was eventually opened around 3:20pm.

Hydr One crews were busy replacing the hydro pole that was taken out during the crash. That knocked out power to hundreds of customers in the immediate area. Power was restored late Monday afternoon.

There was also a crash east of Wingham on County Rd 87, the Harriston Rd, when a car slid off the road and rolled into in a field.

There are no further details about the crash at this time.
