OPSEU President Addresses Grey-Bruce Labour Council

The president of OPSEU has little faith in the idea of a basic income.

The provincial government is currently studying the possibility, but Warren "Smokey" Thomas doesn't trust the government.

"I'm very leery and very worried about basic income. My fear is that they'll use the basic income to get rid of social programs," says Thomas.

Thomas says what the province needs is good paying jobs with benefits, instead of the current situation where thousands of people are saddled with precarious employment.

Thomas was guest speaker at the Grey Bruce Labour Council's annual Activist Dinner in Tara Monday.
