St. Marys Collision Sends Cyclist To Hospital

A cyclist was hurt in a collision with a car at an intersection in St. Marys.

Perth County OPP officers were called to the scene at Jones St. and Water St. about 9am Wednesday morning.

Police say the cyclist entered the intersection and was hit by a sedan. The 28-year -old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate the incident and are looking for any witnesses.

Cyclists are reminded that they are required to obey traffic signal and signs as bicycles are classified as a vehicles under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. Cyclists are encouraged to wear helmets at all times when riding their bikes. By law cyclists under the age of 18 years must wear a helmet.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
