Food And Toy Donation Needs Up 30% In Perth County

The Salvation Army in Perth County says the demand for food and toy donations to help needy local families is up about 30% from last year.

The Perth County OPP Auxiliary Unit teamed up with the Salvation Army for the annual toy drive in St. Marys and Listowel Saturday.

Residents filled three OPP cruisers with toys at the Walmart in Listowel.

An OPP prisoner van and a cruiser were stuffed with toys thanks to shoppers at St. Marys Canadian Tire. They also collected $450 in cash to buy more toys.

The Salvation Army will distribute the toys to needy families in the community.
