Revised Rural Development Program Returning

Huron County's economic development director says the province's Rural Economic Development Program appears to be on its way back.

The provincial program was recently rewritten in a way that failed to meet the needs of most rural communities.   The focus was more on urban challenges.

But Economic Development Director Ron Gaudet says he was at a recent meeting where it was announced the program has undergone another revision.

Even though no date was given for the release of the new program, Gaudet says it should be ready some time in the next year.

He points out that one focus of the new program will likely move away from providing jobs across the region because some sectors are now close to full employment.
