Bluewater District School Board Chair, Vice-Chair Acclaimed

It's status-quo at the helm of the Bluewater District School Board.

Elections for the chair and vice-chair trustee positions were held Tuesday as part of the Initial Meeting of the Board.

Ron Motz was acclaimed as chair for a third term.  He's the trustee for the Municipality of West Grey/Town of Hanover.

"Many of our board’s current challenges, such as declining enrolment and excess pupil spaces, will persist in the year ahead," says Motz. "Trustees will continue to work cohesively, diligently and responsibly to address these challenges for the good of all our students."

Also acclaimed was Jan Johnstone, trustee for the Municipality of Kincardine/Township of Huron-Kinloss, who continues as vice-chair for a second term.

"Trustees value the importance of continuity as we move further along the course that we established through our strategic plan. This includes our focus on reducing empty pupil places, which provides opportunities for upgrades and new builds, enhanced programming opportunities for students, as well as creative community partnerships," says Johnstone.
