The Economic Development Committee in Goderich has been formally designated a committee of council.
Economic Development and Tourism Co-ordinator James Cox says the committee was originally created in 2015 as part of the county-wide Economic Development Strategic Planning process.
The strategic plan that came out of that process was approved by council in June of this year.
Since that time, the core working group has continued to meet to receive updates on the plan’s implementation and discuss future actions. Members of the group had expressed an interest in formalizing the committee as a committee of council, and council agreed.
Cox points out Goderich council will still make any final decisions relating to economic development.
