Dog Shot by Police in Owen Sound

Police in Owen Sound say one of their officers was forced to shoot a dog after it reportedly charged at the officer in aggressive manner on Monday.

Police say they were called to the Bayfield Landing area on 9th Avenue East just before 2pm yesterday (on Boxing Day) after receiving a complaint of a German Shepherd mixed breed dog behaving aggressively .

According to police, the dog charged aggressively at the officer after he got out of his cruiser, prompting the officer to fire upon the animal with his service weapon (side arm).

The single shot wounded the dog and it taken to a local vet for treatent of it's wound.

Police say the dog is expected to recover.

The police officer was not hurt.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
