McNiven Named Player of the Week

The Owen Sound Attack have named netminder Michael McNiven as the Huron Tractor Player of the Week.

McNiven stopped 73 of 74 shots over three games including two shut outs, leading the Attack to victory against North Bay, Kitchener and Barrie.

McNiven started the week with a 3-0 shut out of the Battalion on Wednesday. He refused to allow a goal against Kitchener, giving the Attack another 3-0 victory. In New Year's Day he made 22 saves in Owen Sound's 5-1 victory over Barrie, extending the teams win streak to seven games.

The Montreal Canadiens prospect is first in the league's goals against average and save percentage. He finished the week with a .987 save percentage and a 0.33 GAA. McNiven is 18-7-1 on the year with three shutouts.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
