Bluewater Approves Draft Agreement With Grand Bend Wind

Bluewater councillors have tentatively approved a draft agreement with the Grand Bend Wind on compensation for its energy project in the municipality.

Mayor Tyler Hessel explains the draft agreement was approved at this week's committee of the whole meeting but still has to go before a regular council meeting for final approval.

Hessel says they've been working with Grand Bend Wind on the agreement for over a year and explains it gives the municipality roughly 300-thousand dollars a year for the remainder of the contract Grand Bend has with the Province.

Hessel says that amounts to about four per cent of the municipal budget.

Hessel adds part of the draft agreement outlines how the municipality can use the money but there very few significant restrictions other than the municipality can't use the money against Grand Bend Wind.
