Oldtimers Hockey Introduces Over 50 Tournament

The Bayfield Relics Oldtimers Hockey Team is hosting a tournament later this month for players over the age of 50.

Relic's GM Ron Keys the Relics is a 35 and over team but has several players over the age of 50 so they started hosting the tournament about three years ago to coincide with the Bayfield Christmas Weekend.

Keys says the last one confirmed there are still a lot of men over the age of 50 that still wanted to play so they decided to hold one on January 28.

Keys explains this one will be a little different in that instead of captains collecting players and putting a team together, all of the names will go into a hat and four teams will be drawn.

Keys says it means players will be playing with people they might not know and so they make new friends and it will only be four teams so the tournament won't take up the whole weekend.

Anyone interested in playing in the tournament is asked to contact the Bayfield Arena at 565-2121.
