Phone Survey Starts For Natural Gas Surcharge In Milverton

The Township of Perth East is encouraging residents to be receptive to a telephone survey about a surcharge for Union Gas to expand to the area.

In November, the Ontario Energy Board did not support all of the requests for regulatory amendments to help bring natural gas to Milverton.

Union Gas developed the proposed surcharge for households and businesses to convert to natural gas and support the infrastructure for an unusually long pipeline. However, the surcharge may need to be slightly higher, and last longer to gain OEB support.

The pipeline would follow Perth Rd. 130, Line 42 and Line 46.

A telephone survey to measure support for the proposal begins Wednesday for properties along the route.

Union Gas suggests community support for the surcharge means a higher likelyhood the project will receive OEB approval.

The phone number may display as 855-561-3603, for Access Research, the data collection group for Forum Research. The survey will take five to eight minutes.

If you do not have a land line, and would like to add your name to the list of people that may be contacted as part of the survey, you can provide an alternate number to the Township of Perth East administrative office.
