Water Meters In Minto Ease Pressure On Treatment Plant

Minto residents are doing a good job of conserving water.

Mayor George Bridge says water consumption has gone down by about 35% since water meters were introduced several years ago.  The reduction in water usage takes pressure off the sewage treatment plant.

Minto passed a bylaw Tuesday to give residents one chance at getting a refund on a high water bill due to a leak.

After the one grace period, the homeowner will have to pay the whole shot, including for the wasted water.

A leaky toilet or water softener can more than double a water bill.
