Hawk End Regular Season on a Winning Note

The Mitchell Hawks wrapped up the regular season with a 6-1 victory over Mount Forest.

Drew Gross opened the scoring midway through the first. Nick Jung, Joe McCarthy and Derek Elliot scored in the second to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead.

Kyle Spence found the back of the net midway through the third to put the Hawks up 5-0. Isaac Fazackerley put the Patriots on the board at 12:32 of the third. Garrett James scored on the power play at 17:48 to give the Hawks their sixth goal of the game.

Spence and Jung led the Hawks offence with a goal and two assists each.

Wyatt Nicholson stopped 30 shots for Mitchell. Jake McKee made 8 saves on 9 shots before being replaced by Tyler Reiner who stopped 24 of 19 shots in relief.

The Hawks begin their PJHL quarter final series against Goderich on Saturday. The Patriots host Wingham in Game won of that quarter final best-of-seven also on Saturday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
