Fewer Objections To Proposed Southgate Gravel Pit

Southgate held a second public meeting Wednesday regarding a controversial gravel pit, known as the Peyton Pit, located north of the village of Holstein.

The meeting heard that all agencies such as the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority have no objection to the 35-hectare pit.

The pit properties straddle County Rd. 9 and are owned by members of the Flanagan family.

There are still four unresolved objections from members of the public which are expected to go to the Ontario Municipal Board for resolution.
