Bayfield Arena Group Gets Chamber of Commerce Support

The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce has issued a news release in support of the Bayfield Arena Community Partners Association and its efforts to promote the village's arena and community centre over the last three years.

Leanne Kavanagh says there is a definite link to the number of people coming into and leaving events at the facility, and traffic in the downtown stores and restaurants.

Working with Bluewater's former economic development officer, they calculated that a conservative estimate would be that each visitor spends an average of $25 either in a local restaurant or store.

Kavanagh says the municipality is trying to attract working families with young children to the area, and to succeed, the community has to have the facilities that young families are looking for.

Kavanagh says BACPA events at the facility currently generate about $43,000 a year in economic development.
