Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Named New Environment Critic

Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott is taking over as the official opposition critic to the minister of the environment and climate change.

Arnott says Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson did a superb job in the role, and he hopes to pick up where she left off. He says the economy and protecting the environment must go hand in hand.

Arnott served as parliamentary assistant to the minister of the environment from 2001-2002.

At that time, Environment Minister Elizabeth Witmer announced that the Lakeview Generating Station in Mississauga would be the first coal-fired electricity plant in Ontario to stop burning coal.

Arnott is also closely monitoring the situation with Nestle's water taking permits in Wellington County.
