Firefighters Battle House Fire On Saugeen First Nation

An investigation is ongoing after a fire broke out at a house on Saugeen First Nation.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Thursday around 4:15pm, emergency crews attended the home on on 2nd Ave. S between 19th St. S and Ida St.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured. Police say the owner of the residence has been contacted.

The cause of the blaze and a damage estimate are unknown at this time, as the investigation is in its early stages.

Police were forced to close 2nd Ave. from French Bay Rd. to 16th St. S while emergency crews were are at the scene. The road has since been reopened.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
