Patriots Put Stranglehold on Ironmen

Blair Butchart scored the game winner on the power play at 16:11 of overtime to give the Mount Forest Patriots a 6-5 win over Wingham.

The victory puts the Patriots up 3-0 in the PJHL Pollock Division quarter final series and the Ironmen now face elimination.

The Ironmen were leading 3-1 midway through the first when Tomas Azzano, Greg Scott and Shane Vollmer scored back-to-back in just over a five minute span. Brendon Aitken scored at 12:58 on the power play to narrow the Ironmen's lead to 3-2 heading into the second.

Carter Collinson scored at 5:41 of the second to put the Ironmen up by two goals. Jack Vautour and Spencer Holt scored less than two minutes apart to tie the game heading into the third.

Ostop Mostowy gave the Patriots the lead early in the third and Josh Stewart answered for Wingham to tie the game less than three minutes later.

Mathieu Oullette stopped 33 shots in the win. Alex Metzger made 47 saves for Wingham.

The Patriots could advance to the Pollock Division quarter finals with a win Friday night in Wingham.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
