Goderich CAO Updates Council On Hospice Beds Location

The C-A-O for Goderich brought councillors up to date and provided some clarification regarding the choice of a location for hospice beds in Huron County.

The Southwest LHIN has said ten beds will be split between Huron and Perth with six going to Perth. Larry McCabe told council the six in Perth will likely be in Stratford but it's not know at this time where the four in Huron will go. McCabe says he understands Central Huron has asked the beds be centrally-located but adds has not committed to any financial support for the beds. McCabe says a board is in the process of being formed that will make presentations to municipal councils outlining what is required from a host community and McCabe says he believes that will include a commitment of 150-thousand dollars a year per bed on an on-going basis.

McCabe says Goderich just wants to ensure the process going forward is open and transparent.
