Ladies Night Out In Walkerton Promotes Skilled Trades

The Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board is promoting skilled trades as a career option for females.

The school board is hosting a Ladies Night Out, which gives young women a chance to try out some of the various trades at Sacred Heart High School.

According to Statistics Canada, women account for a small minority of those registering in apprenticeship programs.

The board hopes to make young girls more aware of the possibilities.

Participants will get hands on experiences in wood, automotive, manufacturing and hospitality shops. They can explore the new Innovations lab, and learn about various opportunities.

The event begins at 4pm Wednesday in Walkerton and dinner will be provided.

Anyone interested should RSVP to 519-881-1900
