East Ridge Community School is the name selected for the new elementary school to be located at the renovated site of the old OSCVI in Owen Sound.
The Bluewater District School Board decided to close Bayview public and Sydenham Community Schools as of June 2017.
The elementary and french immersion programs will be relocated to the former high school on the east side.
A school naming committee began the process of looking for a new name for the school in October.
The board gathered suggested names through on line surveys and ballot boxes.
The 36 member committee shortlisted it to six names, sought further public input, before making a final recommendation to the board.
