Police Track Man Up Tree Near Gorrie

Police were led through a swamp and up a tree during a recent chase near Gorrie.

Huron County OPP responded to the area of Orange Hill Rd., northwest of Gorrie, for a possible impaired driver that had struck a nearby vehicle.

As officers responded, they learned a man had ditched his Lincoln SUV and entered a swamp before trying to steal another nearby vehicle.  The man unsuccessful in stealing the vehicle after being confronted by the owner.

The man then fled and decided to climb up a large tree. Police arrived and were able to convince the man to climb down.

A 39-year-old man from South Bruce is now charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug, theft of a motor vehicle and trespassing at night. The suspect also received an automatic 90-day driver's licence suspension. He has since been released with a court date set for March 30.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
